Moved
I moved. Got the hell out of Odessa as fast as I could.
So my blog has moved too. Check it out HERE.
love this
Some time ago, I took a weekend trip to St. Louis to visit my friends. While there, I of course went shopping. And of course I even hit up a TJMaxx. ‘Cause why not, ya know? Anyway, I foung this really cool Anne Taintor ID/card case. It was chrome and said “damn straight I keep score” on it, which I thought was appropriate. Plus it was $5 so I couldn’t resist.
Anyway, I have loved this thing since then. I keep all of my debit and credit cards in it, along with my ID. No fumbling through a huge wallet – everything I need is right there. I get compliments on it all the time.
And then tonight, I found this one online:

PERFECT. Especially given my recent frustrating job search, in which I even was rejected from selling cell phones at AT&T. Yeah. I got rejected for retail. I’m so lucky I got the job I got…
Anywho, I ordered it. I love it. I can’t wait to get it. She’s even redheaded. It was fate.
news
Oh, right. Yeah. So, I got a job. I’m a working woman now, or will be as of Monday.
I’m the new Volunteer Coordinator for the local CASA chapter. It should be a fun job, and it’s a non-profit that does good things for kids, so I can sleep at night.
more signs
two more signs in the Colorado house collection…

The lettering on “room” turned out kind of crappy, but whatever…

Pagosa is kind of known for its hot air balloons, if you were wondering what was up with that.
One more sign to go. It’s almost finished but I’m having trouble with it, so I put it off for a while.
halloweenie
We didn’t dress up for Halloween. Kind of a bummer. However, I did get to go trick or treating with my youngest Midland friend, and I took my new camera with me. Isn’t she a doll?

She was a bumblebee. Love it.

treasure hunt
I’ve had an old, old Nikkor (Nikon) 35mm SLR forever. I think it was my dad’s at some point. It served me very well in my high school photography classes, but it was time to upgrade to digital. And as soon as I did (I mean within ten minutes of using it), I had already smudged the lens. Ooops. So I went digging in my old camera bag for some lens cleaner, and found a few things I forgot I even had!
I robbed my old camera of its camera strap – a pretty cool strap that reminds me of a hippie guitar strap. Love it. And I read that the last thing you want to do when you get a new digital camera is use the strap that came with it. Not only is it ugly and too thin, but it usually has the brand name plastered across the back of it.
The most exciting find in my old bag, however, were two close-up lenses. They are really just kind of a cap that screws onto the end of the big lens, but they allow you to take photos that are very close up. So exciting! I took a few shots with it around the house and remembered why I loved these lenses to begin with!

I love how only part of the photo is in focus. LOVE this camera.

And finally, another photo of my favorite subject, Lucky. Didn’t use the close up lens this time. He just stuck his nose right in there!

gettin’ crafty (finally)
It took my sister informing me that I would be making something for my mother for Christmas to get me doing crafty/creative things again. It’s a bit of a long story. You see, my mom had forever and ever wanted a house in Colorado. My dad finally built her one a few years ago, and she has been working on getting it all set up and furnished since. Now she has decided that she wants to name the bedrooms. Yes, it’s mostly insane, but what momma wants, momma gets. So my sister told me to start making signs. There are four guest bedrooms, so that’s four signs in my future. Here’s the first (made it yesterday):

Mom apparently wanted “Bunk Room” – which is really just an office with bunk beds in it. But bunk house sounded better to me, and then as I sat pondering how to center “house” under “bunk” on the sign, I realized using “haus” would help with the centering problem while simultaneously paying homage to our German ancestry. Genius.
Yes, this is kitchy and terrible, but I think she’s probably looking for something like this. Cheese, just pure cheese.
